... his dad was drunk he would tell the story of the kid in the closet. The kid in the closet story scared Wolfgang so much he wouldn't dare get near one. The night had fallen and the dealers came out just after dusk, so Wolfgang moved his toys from the corner and walked up the apartment stairs. As his little twelve year old legs climbed the steps, he had to pass the bums that lay cold on the steps with their bottles of liquor. Once to the top of the staircase he passed a late dealer, and headed toward his home. As Wolfgang reached to the door it swung open nearly swiping off his arm. "What the hell do you think your doing out this late?" It was his father, again ...
... time a month had passed and I was very grateful to have that one shower on the way to the Gore Range in Colorado. This section of the course was by far the most demanding, the mountaineering section. Stepping off the bus in Frisco, Colorado we looked back knowing that we were not to see civilization for at least a month. There were 8 men and women in my group from all over the country. Each one had a unique personality not knowing that we would all become closer to each other than family, possibly being dependent during life threatening situations which we experienced on many occasions. This in itself could be another long story. By the end of this section we were r ...
... to the article. Most young people do not have enough extra time to do community service. I have been doing a survey about the subject matter for a few days, and I have come up with some interesting results. It seems that eight out of ten students that are about to graduate high school are planning to go to college after they graduate. I also asked them about doing community service. Most of them said that they would be getting a job, and they would not have time to do community service. My survey has brought me to the conclusion that students who are thinking about going to college should not be thinking about doing two years of community service. Community ...
... once more. The door cracked like a egg and the hash rain began beating on my no tender skin. I had not even noticed that my nose had been broken when the air bag inflated. My mom had noticed that my nose was bleeding and called out half dazed, “Albert get out now the car is going to explode!” Now I had been to shocked to really get scared but when I heard those words fear crawled down my neck like a spider. I looked at my door and that is when I got really scared in the crash it had been ruined so badly you couldn’t open it at all. I knew I was going to die at that very moment and tried to make peace with God. I know that people say when you think your ...
... skiing and the atmosphere around it and were not as enthusiastic toward the surroundings as I was. Their calls became louder, with annoyance. I stepped up to the edge of a great slope. The steepness of this colossal block of snow I stood upon, was frightening. The only was to go was down. I took a deep breath with no worries, for this was not the first time I was confronted with a suicide mission. In a heartbeat, the exhilarating feeling of going downhill on a pair of thin skis took over. The breeze rushed through my hair and flew vigorously. Veering left and right, dodging inanimate objects, and racing with my buddies at the same time was truly a thrilling ...
... playing for a while, Felmont had beaten the Mage. Then after a few minutes the Mage walked over to the bar and ordered a gallon of ale and began to guzzle the ale very quickly. After the Mage had finished his ale, he was an angry and drunken Mage who was tempted to destroy the small village. Felmont was leaving the tavern when he saw a large bolt of lightning smash a small vendor's cart that caught on fire. Behind his back, the elf heard the Mage starting another chant. Felmont pulled out his small warhammer and took a large swing at the Mage's head. The Mage used his large staff to knock warhammer out of Felmont's hands. Felmont backed away and pulled out ...
... for a possible means of escape. "OH SHI-!" I stopped myself short of a curse, and looked down at my aching toe. I painfully leaned over and examined the ground around my feet, discovering a 1922 Sears catalogue. Exhausted and hungry, I reached for a coconut from the only tree. I leaned against the palm tree eating the coconut and leafing through the ancient catalogue. Thinking aloud, I muttered, "Gee, I wish I had some clothes". POOF! Magically, I was in the latest fashions of 1922. Hmmm.......could it be? I flipped through the catalogue until I found what I was looking for. POOF! "Wow, I always wanted a bread box". Curious as to what else I could f ...
... how he expects everyone to participate in class discussions, but I did not care at the time. However he got my attention when he said, "My home phone is on the top left corner of the page. Please call me if you need to talk to me regarding class, that statement stunned me. Never before in my academic career had I had a teacher give out his or her home phone number. How many teachers do you know that give out his or her home phone number during your academic career? One seemingly endless week passed. Even with a burst of effort on my part, I received a D on his quiz. With the paper in my hand, I nervously asked, "Mr. Johnson, my name is Sam. I am in your Eng ...
... I seem to have imbibed her subtle stimuli. Along the eastern shores of the night-sky a splash of colour would emerge. The all-night cricket band would reluctantly wane under the first gentle reveille from those "early-birds" of epigram fame. And then would come the most striking sensation of all: the smell of fresh dew on the grass - I think the terms "exhilarating" and "intoxicating" were coined by someone who'd just taken their first breath of northern morning air (though they likely did so between 6 and 7 a.m. when one is better primed to wax poetic and the passage of sensory information from one's nostrils to the brain is not so hopelessly clogged - as is the ...
... and made you second guess yourself. Sawtooth just smelled of fear, but it was what everyone came to do. Right when everyone started out it was no problem. Each step came with ease and grace. The view around was beautiful. It was unlike anyone could ever imagine. When the group got to only the tenth switch-back they all looked about and could see the beauty of the valley floor and where they had just started out that day. It looked like a little green dot painted into the valley floor by an artist and his brush. I did not realize how hard it would be until the middle of the mountain. Through the middle of the mountain each step was a challenge. I could ...
