The case “challenged the statute on a number of constitutional grounds, including equal protection of the law, due process of law, and the right to privacy” (Internet #1). The court voted 7 to 2 for the rights of Jane Roe. Justice Blackmun was the one to write the opinion formally for the court. He said that a woman’s right to decide whether or not to terminate her pregnancy is a fundamental right, part of her right to privacy that the Court had granted in earlier trials.
