In every room of almost every building there is a Telescreen which allows Part members to see and hear anything that goes on in the area of the telescreen. Knowing that anything they say, think or do is being seen by the "Big Brother" people will began to believe and think what they are told is the truth, if they do not, they are tortured until they do.
