This brutality dosen’t only come from white people, but form her own family members. At the age of fourteen she is raped by her father who tells her that “…she better shut-up and git used to it.” She gets married to a amn that she does not love to escape the violence in her father’s house. This proved to only make things worse when it becmae appearent that her husband also was an abusive man.
