Stephen Crane was born in Newark, New Jersey on November 1, 1871. Stephen was the last of 14 children. His father a Methodist Minister died when he was nine. Stephen never cared much for school. Crane also covered the Greco Turkish war and later settled in England where he made friends with famous writers of the time including H.G. Wells and Henry James. Crane also covered the Spanish American War for Joseph Pulitzer’s New York World. During the last few years of his life, he was in debt and
suffering from tuberculosis. He died on June 5, 1900 while he was in Germany he was only 29.
Some of Cranes most famous works are The Red Badge Of Courage (1895), The Blue Hotel (1898), and War is Kind and Other Lines (1899). Stephen Crane also wrote Maggie a Girl of the Streets (1896). The Open Boat (1898), ....
