.... Americans believe the police treat all people equally (Wickham 2000). I am not saying that all policeman always use good judgement. There are times when they do exert unnecessary force, and in those cases they should be subject to the full penalty of the law. However, “only one of the previous eighty-four coroners inquests in Clark County has found an officer negligent in the killing of a suspect” (Puit 1999). One example of an officer using unnecessary deadly force is in the case of Officer Mortensen and Officer Brady.
